We are delighted to welcome Kate Hedin and David Rehm to the south! They will be teaching classes and joining in the social dancing at "Balboa South" on 31 May and 1 June 2025. Venue is Sonning Common Village Hall, Wood land, Reading RG4 9SL.
Kate and David who hail from the USA, need no introduction having been leading lights in the Balboa community for many years. Their clearly described classes and knowledge of the dance make them popular instructors wherever they go.
The weekend is designed for beginner balboa dancers to the more experienced and there will be no level testing, so all balboa dancers are welcome. Weekend includes classes on Saturday and Sunday, a Saturday evening dance and a Sunday tea dance. Our DJ for the weekend will be the ever-popular, Mel Calanglang. Price is £105/head.
There is plenty of parking at the Sonning Commong Village Hall and Reading Station is a 20-minute bus ride away.
Our Approach
Is about having fun, moving naturally in a way that is comfortable to you and enjoying what you are doing.
We incorporate a method developed by Gloria Pinares, a movement therapist, dancer and instructor in Barcelona, which uses all of these things to great effect.

About Us
Hello, I'm Jean. I have been teaching all styles of swing dance for more years than you have had hot dinners alongside my partner in crime, Shirley Strickland. We continue to train with Gloria Garcia Pinares in Barcelona and use her pioneering method in our classes and workshops.
