Who we are
Hello, thanks for visiting this page. Just so you know who you will be meeting when you come along to our classes – Jean is on the left and Shirley (aka Swirls) is on the right. We have been teaching in and around Reading for longer than we care to remember. We are enthusiastic dancers and love sharing our knowledge of the wonderful dance styles of the swing era. We are both training in Original Dance Fundamentals (ODF) for swing dance tuition pioneered by Gloria Garcia Pinares in Barcelona and are the only exponents of this teaching method in the UK to date.
Over our years of dancing we have gained a comprehensive knowledge about a wide range of swing dance styles including Lindy Hop, Balboa and Charleston as well as lesser-known vintage dances such as the Peabody, Turkey Trot, Collegiate Shag and Laminu – and love teaching them all.
As well as providing sound instruction on technique and style, we are known for injecting fun and laughter into our classes and our teaching is in demand throughout the UK and abroad.
